About Runway
A free browser game about getting laid off from tech and climbing back.
It is 9:14 on a Tuesday. Your badge stops working, and a 15-minute “quick sync” ends your job. Runway: Layoff Survival is what happens next: rent is due, your savings are your runway, and every interview is one you play yourself.
How to play
- One move a week. Apply widely, tailor a few applications, grab coffee for a referral, grind skills, pick up gig work, or rest.
- Interviews are a skill game. Choose how bold your answer is, then tap when the needle hits the green zone. Bold answers score more and risk more.
- Two meters keep you alive. Savings pay the rent; sanity pays for interviews. Run out of either and the run ends.
Two ways to play
- New life is the full game, about one to two hours a run, saved automatically. Land a job, survive the next layoff, get promoted, and save your way to financial freedom across five chapters. Talents change each run, difficulty levels unlock as you win, and a collection tracks every ending and event you find.
- Daily sprint is twelve weeks to one offer. Everyone gets the same layoff that day, so you can compare results with friends.
Who makes it
Runway is made by an independent developer. There are no accounts and nothing to install, and it plays on phones and computers. The game is free and supported by ads: optional videos you can choose to watch for an in-game bonus, and short ads between runs.
Runway is a work of satire. All companies and characters are fictional. Questions or ideas? Get in touch. Read the privacy policy.
